Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are new green solvents formed by the hydrogen bond interactions between hydrogen bond acceptors (HBAs) and hydrogen bond donors (HBDs). DESs have some properties such as tunable structure-properties, low melting point, low vapor pressure, wide liquid temperature range, high stability, strong solubility, and have been widely used in gas absorption and separation. The research progress regarding DESs for CO2 capture and separation (CCS) during the last decades (2008~2021) was reviewed, including the CCS by ammonium DESs, phosphonium DESs, imidazolium DESs, and superbase-based DESs. The problems existing in the application of DESs for CCS were described. Finally, the challenges and development direction in this field have been discussed.
