GAO Xiang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, serves as the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Zhejiang University of Technology. He is also the Director of the Institute of Carbon Neutrality of Zhejiang University, the Director of the Baima Lake Laboratory, the Director of the National Environmental Protection Engineering Center for Pollution Control of Coal-Fired Atmospheres, and the Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Clean Energy and Carbon Neutrality. He has long been committed to research in the fundamental theories, key technologies, and engineering applications in the field of energy and environment. He has received the First Prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of the National Technological Invention Award, and the Second Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award twice. In addition, he has received the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation, the National Innovation Award, and the National May Day Labor Medal. He is a recipient of the State Council Special Grant, funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and was selected for the Ministry of Education's "Yangtze River Scholars Award Program" as a Distinguished Professor. He is a national candidate in the New Century Millions of Talents Project, a leading talent in the National High-level Personnel Special Support Plan, a leading professional talent in the National Environmental Protection, a Special Grade Expert of Zhejiang Province, and an elected Fellow of the IET, the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and the Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering.
