The two- stage "adsorption-desorption" process which is granular activated carbon adsorption and steam desorption was used to treat the organic waste gas from the chemical production workshop. The treatment effect was analyzed and the feasibility was discussed. The results show that using the two-stage "adsorption-desorption" process, the effluent concentrations of methanol and methyl formate are 85 mg/m3 and 569 mg/m3, with the average removal rates of 98.15% and 91.51%, respectively, under the conditions that the concentrations of methanol and methyl formate are 4 071 ~7 456 mg /m3 and 6 165~10 914 mg/m3 respectively, the temperature of the first-stage adsorption bed is 5~15 ℃, and the temperature of the second-stage adsorption bed is 0~5 ℃. This process has the advantages of low investment and operation cost, high organic matter removal rate, and high product recovery value. It can be used to treat and recover waste gas from chemical production workshops.
