Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, In 1994 Han-Qing Yu received PhD degree from Tongji University. Later, he had spent seven years as a postdoc or research fellow abroad. In early 2001 Dr Yu came back to the University of Science & Technology of China (USTC), China, to establish a laboratory of environmental engineering. Since then his group has focused on biological and physicochemical wastewater treatment. Currently, he is the member of editorial board of over ten international journals. Since 2001 Dr Yu has over 400 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals including Nature Protocols，Nature Communications，Energy and Environmental Science，Environmental Science & Technology，Water Research. He has an H index of 109 (SCI).

His research interests in drinking water quality control including advanced treatment, disinfection and by-products control, secondary water supply technology, intelligent water services and so on. He is now the director of the Wisdom Environment Committee of Shanghai Environmental Protection Industry Association, a standing member of the Science and Technology Committee of China Urban Water Supply and Drainage Association, a member of the Water Supply Expert Committee of Water Industry Branch of China Civil Engineering Society and the editor of Water Reuse (IWA). He published more than 230 peer-reviewed papers and authorized more than 20 national invention patents, participated in writing 8 technical standards, guidelines, guides and published 2 academic monographs. He has been awarded the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress (ranked 9th), the First Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress (ranked 1st), and the Second Prize of Technical Inventions for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research of Higher Education Institutions (ranked 2nd). He was selected by Elsevier Highly Cited Scholars (Scopus) and Shanghai Young Science and Technology Stars (Class A).

He graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 1994 and received both his Master and Ph.D. degree in Thermal Engineering from Southeast University. He has been authorized more than 80 International/Chinese patents. He has won the second prize of the National Science Progress Award, the first prize of the Natural Science of the Ministry of Education, the first prize of Jiangsu Science and Technology Progress Award, and the China Patent Excellence Award. Since 2014, Rui Xiao has been awarded the world highly cited researcher in energy field for continuous 8 years. His current research interests lie in biomass and solid waste pyrolysis and gasification for fuel, hydrogen and value-added products, fuel cell, and CO2 capture and utilization, etc.

Senior Researcher at CCTEG Hangzhou Institute Co., Ltd. He received his Master of Engineering degree in environmental engineering from Tongji university. He is the director of the Environmental Protection Committee of the China Coal Association, the deputy director of the Coal Processing and Utilization and Environmental Protection Expert Committee of the Technical Committee of the Coal Industry, and the member of the Technical Committee of China Coal Technology Engineering Group. He has long been committed to scientific research, technical consultation, engineering design and management of environmental protection, presided over and participated in 28 national, provincial and ministerial level research projects, including the National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 Program), the National Science and Technology Support Program, the Ninth Five-Year Plan National Technology Innovation Project, won two first-class and one second-class provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, authorized more than 30 Chinese invention patents, published one monograph, published more than 80 papers, participated in three national standards, two industry standards, and was responsible for more than 50 large-scale environmental engineering design projects.
